The Olympic Refuge Foundation is an independent, international nonprofit aiming for 1 million forcibly displaced young people to have access to safe sport by 2024. It was founded by the International Olympic Committee in December 2017 and is registered as a Swiss Foundation.
The Olympic Refuge Foundation believes forcibly displaced young people thrive through access to safe sport. Safe sport provides a place to belong, to connect with and give back to this community. We believe the skills, innovation, resilience and capacity is within these individuals and communities and that safe sport allows these to be fully realized. We support 12 programmes in 6 countries (Jordan, Turkey, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Mexico) involving more than 200'000 forcibly displaced young people and their hosts.
